Sweating is a normal function of the body and it facilitates the cooling down of the body. Problems with sweating may occur at any age in both men and women. Sweating normally occurs under arms, on the palms of the hand and on the feet. Sweating can be divided in two categories, normal and abnormal sweating. There are two major causes of normal sweating, these are psychological factors and heat.
It is to be expected that you will sweat if you are dressed in warm clothing, the weather is humid, when you exercise or drink hot beverages. It is also quite normal to sweat when encountered with uneasy and stressing circumstances. Psychosomatic factors only exacerbate but do not cause sweating.

Sweating is not likely to be considered a serious condition but if your sweating goes into over drive and becomes excessive, the condition could be hyperhidrosis and this is what most people with sweating disorders are diagnosed with.
There are a few things you can check first and the room temperature at night should be regulated as well as any other environmental factors to ensure that these are not the cause of the sweating. Hyperhidrosis is a fairly uncommon condition but there are several treatments available now that people can use to eliminate the problem of sweating at night.

Some of the reasons that cause night sweating include diabetes, hormonal changes, lymphoma, anxiety and pressure, more likely in men than women as well as the environment in which one is sleeping.
To adjust the environment, simply reduce the amount of clothing or blankets being used or add an air conditioning system in the room. You could be suffering from a serious disease which may be causing you to sweat excessively but it may just be something more common such as obesity.
It is not possible to stop the body from
releasing sweat and we wouldn't want to since this is a regular bodily
function you may need to control and manage it.If you sweat normally,
you can simply use an anti-perspirant but if you suffer from excessive
sweating, you may opt for medications such as anticholinergics but good hygiene and avoiding overheating your body may provide some relief.
